Register for Stone Moot Court Until TOMORROW, October 11th

Tomorrow is the last day to register for the Harlan Fiske Stone Moot Court Competition. We are very excited about this year's problem, which touches on disability law, technology, statutory interpretation, standing and mootness. Courts around the nation cannot agree about how Title III of the Americans with Disability Act ("ADA") applies to the Internet, a split that recently culminated in a petition for certiorari to the Supreme Court (denied earlier this week).

The program is a great chance to further develop your legal writing skills and improve your public speaking. You also may win the chance to argue before a panel of Federal Courts of Appeals judges in the final round. If you wish to participate, you must register by 11:59 pm on 10/11. You can sign up using this Google form.

If you choose to participate in the competition, your participation will be noted on your transcript.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Stone Directors at stonedirectorcls@gmail.com with any questions.

We are excited to have you as a competitor!

Congratulations to the Four Finalists!

From 68 to down to 4.

In October 2018, 68 hopeful law students signed up for Columbia's oldest internal, competitive moot court, ready to research the First and Fourth Amendments, distinguish between canons of statutory interpretation, and discover the perils of shared Gmail accounts. After four months of competition, the final four competitors have emerged.

The Moot Court Executive Board gives a warm congratulations to the four competitors who have advanced out of the semifinal round into the final round. The competition was intense but each of these competitors demonstrated substantial written and oral advocacy skills to earn their place in the final round.

Congratulations to:

Jeremy Patashnik, Christian Ronald, Jing Wang, and Tory Roberts!!!

Jeremy Patashnik and Christian Ronald will serve as counsel for the Plaintiffs-Appellants while Tory Roberts and Jing Wang will represent the Defendant-Appellee during the upcoming final rounds at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2019.
